Q - Are your products 100% natural?
A - Quite simply, yes. We do not use synthetic anything. No fragrance oils, no harsh preservatives, nada.

Q - How can you call your products natural when you have chemicals such as "Decyl Glucoside" in your ingredient lists? I though you were supposed to be able to pronounce all of the ingredients in natural products?

A - Ever hear about the Dihydrogen Monoxide hoax started by two college kids in the 90's? They correctly warned people that Dihydrogen Monoxide "may cause severe burns, is fatal if inhaled, and contributes to erosion of our natural landscape, but despite the danger Dihydrogen Monoxide is used as a fire retardant, as an industrial solvent and coolant and as an additive in certain food products." They called for the public to join together in an effort to immediately ban this toxic substance. Sounds scary, right? So what's the hoax? Dihydrogen Monoxide, more often referred by H2O, is water. Water, folks! The two college students created the hoax to prove how true fact can lead an ignorant public to a false conclusion.

Decyl Glucoside is naturally processed from corn and coconut and helps body-cleansing products foam.

Q - How do you select your ingredients?

A - We have five "musts" and then several other strong preferences when it comes to selecting our ingredients. Our musts are that each ingredient is natural, plant derived, non-intoxicating, eco-friendly (including but not limited to sustainably harvested and naturally processed), and high quality. Our strong preferences include that the ingredient is certified organic, local, fair trade, non-GMO, and minimally processed.

Q - Why aren't certified organic ingredients one of your "musts?"

A - Honestly, because it's a label. Our ingredients come sources that use organic farming principles, but may be unable to be certified "organic" due to cost, jurisdiction, or other factors that have nothing to do with how the ingredient is grown or processed.

Q - Where do you get your ingredients?
A - We personally source our ingredients from only reputable sellers with a proven track record of quality. And while we love to support our local economy by buying local, we hold local suppliers to the same quality expectations as those across the globe and do not hesitate to go for the better quality ingredient.

If you have any further questions about any of our ingredients or where they come from, feel free to email or call us!

Q - Why is your Replenishing Mask a powder? How are you supposed to use it?

A - We keep it a powder for two reasons:

      1) Adding moisture to a mask not for immediate use would mean we'd have to use super-heavy chemical preservatives, and we're just not going to go there.

      2) It allows you to customize your mask for you and your skin by choosing your own activators. Activators can be anything from distilled water to rose water to jojoba oil to avocado, or non-vegan options such as yogurt, honey or egg whites. To use the
mask, you mix it with your activator of
choice to make a paste and apply to skin. Email
us for more activators and which activators
to use for your skin type.

Q - I have acne-prone skin. Which of your lines should I use?

A - Both our Calming and Renewing lines have benefits for acne-prone skin, but our Calming line was formulated specifically for the issues that go along with it - inflammation, irritation, and sensitivity to chemicals. So if you have chronic skin issues, stick with the Calming line. If you get the occasional breakout, you are lucky enough to get the choice between the two!

Q - I have maturing skin. Which of your lines should I use?

A - Both our Calming and Renewing lines have benefits for mature skin, but our Renewing line was specifically created with mature skin in mind. It helps to give you the youthful glow that we all crave! If you have sensitive skin, choose the Calming line, otherwise, the Renewing line is superior for mature skin.

Q - I have sensitive skin. Which of your lines should I use?

A - Both lines are gentle, but if you have sensitive skin you will be better off choosing the Calming line. Ask for samples to test if you don't want to commit to a full bottle. When trying for the first time, only use one new product every two days to easily determine if any particular product is causing issues. If your skin is so sensitive that you have problems even the Calming line, contact us and we can work with you to create a custom product based on your sensitivities.

Q - I have normal skin. Which of your lines should I use?

A - Either! Both! Whatever you like! You are part of a fortunate group that will benefit from all of our products, so you can choose one line or the other, or even to mix-and-match between lines.

Q - Is your insect repellent safe for babies?

A - First, you should always check with a Physician before using ANY product on children or while pregnant or nursing. Second, you should not use any insect repellent on children less than 2 months old - natural or chemical doesn't matter at that stage. The great thing about our herbal insect repellant however, is that it does not need to be applied to the body to work! You can let it diffuse in an oil burner, you can wipe tiny amounts of it on clothes, and you can apply it to patio furniture or baby strollers. This way you can protect your child even before two months! After the age of two months (and checking with your doctor of course!) you may apply a small amount on the inside of your baby's elbow and monitor for 24-48 hours for any kind of reaction before use.

Q - Do you take custom orders?

A - Of course! We accept three kinds of custom orders:

      1) Custom Products - we can change just the essential oils to provide different benefits and a different scent, or we can work with you to create a completely customized formulation based on preferences, current skin issues, or allergies and sensitivities.

      2) Bulk Orders - if you are in need of copious amounts of existing or custom products for special events, as favors, etc. We can work with you on large amounts of individual products, or sell dry products (such as herbs or bath salts) in 1/2 or 1 pound bags for you to split as you like.

      3) Packages / Gift Baskets - we can work with you to mix and match existing or custom items to make gift packages for a new mom, anniversary gift, birthday gift, and
whatever else you can
dream up. We can help you create a package in any budget that will be loved by even the hardest to shop for!

Contact us for more info about custom orders.

Q - I want to refill my product container. Can you do that?

A - At this time, we can refill any product container if you are local. We will sterilize your container and refill it. If you are local and would like a refill, fill out a custom order request form at Roundtable or send us an email. We can also sell you dry products (such as herbs or bath salts) in 1/2 or 1 pound bags for your to refill your own, whether you are local or not - just contact us for details. Either way, you would be given an appropriate discount and kudos for doing so!

Q - How "green" is Safaa?

A - As green as we can be! We strive to not only make our products green, but to be as green a company as possible. We are a mostly paper-free office, the paper we do use is recycled. We reuse or recycle all product package we receive ingredients in, and we compost our leftover plant matter. We strive to purchase from green suppliers. We also search for the most eco-friendly packaging for our products and encourage bulk purchase and reusing container. But we are always working to be more green, and welcome any and all suggestions to help us get there.
